Super Gamer NewsSupreme SuperGamer Press Release Today is the first release of a Dual-Layer Live DVD for gamers.
The Supreme SuperGamer DL Live DVD is one huge and fast distro. All able to run from the live session with full 3d support. Plus be able to install to hard drive for a full OS. This release is based on Vector Linux . What is it:The SuperGamer is optimized for a gaming computer environment, with some tweaks to help speed up running from the LiveDVD. Extra games were added along with some demos of proprietary games. All Games are Linux Native. Users wishing to run Windows Native games, may install Wine or a Wine related application such as Cedega. SuperGamer History/Back Story:I started out making remasters of pclinuxos...they turned out pretty good...a member asked about adding all the repository games to it so he could just boot and have everything... at about that time there was the shift from xfree to xorg along with the up and coming 2.6 kernel.. I was the first to have a working 2.6 kernel and nvidia drivers working on a beta iso... I actually never thought of this as anything other than just filling a niche and just a few iso's for people to download... We never started this project to make money and that philosophy is still adorned to... Thinking outside of the box is how we have things working while others do not... We try to contribute and open the eyes of game makers to take linux seriously as a faster cleaner base... We went worldwide in about april of 2006 with the release of the supergamer 1.... this was not the first supergamer as we did alot of in house testing and promoting of it... that release was the first livedvd to ever break the 2gb limit... we got overwhelmed really with that release as we didn't have any plans to do any other releases... we got a nudge from On-Disk as this was quickly becoming the top seller of live disks... We then proceeded to basically update the first supergamer and at that time I was also looking into smaller and cleaner bases... I was nudged towards vectorlinux which I really liked it being clean and fast... So work started immediately on learning the new live scripts as I was familiar with the mklivecd scripts but making the transition to linux live scripts was completely new territory... I quickly learned them as they where actually cleaner to start with...on the vector based supergamer vl edition I included both nvidia and ati drivers which was alot of coding and we found some issues with nvidia onboard... the second release quickly fixed that as well as new graphics... I have stuck with these graphics basically because alot of people really like them... We will be selling this from on-disk I wanted this release to be the biggest 32bit release ever....this is why the dual layer...
the 64bit is the future and with work already basically done and a new era of gaming is about to be unleashed.... this dual layer release is also a complete desktop not only for gamers but for normal daily use... it just so happens to look cool and run faster than most light desktops....
