OCZ Equalizer MouseToday we are reviewing the OCZ Equalizer lazer gaming mouse. This is a new product line from OCZ makers of Memory products for years now. We thank OCZ for providing us with the unit to review and look forward to more products from this great company. This is a bold new step from a maker of performance memory and some what of a risk; what is they failed at it ,design etc. Product Shots: ![]() ![]() Specs: 2500 DPI Gamer-Grade Laser Engine On mouse 6-DPI-Shift (400-800-1200-1600-2000-2500) Implements Agilent 6010 Chip and high-speed 7080 FPS technology Triple Threat Button - 1 click, 3 shots for a gaming advantage Dual laser engine for enhanced tracking on a wider range of surfaces Right-handed ergonomic design Gold-Plated USB Connector Thin, flexible wire design feels like using a wireless mouse but without sacrificing latency Convenient ‘back’ & ‘forward’ buttons Comfortable, no-slip grip for intense gaming battles Plug and Play Included Equalware software for complete customization 6 Year Warranty* (3 year on the mobil version) The table below is right from
the pdf manual on the driver cd
In Use: This mouse is pretty much plug an play it works in Mepis 6.5 with out the software and in windows as a usb mouse no worries there. button feel is dead on I'd even compare it to the Logitex MX1000 or Razers Copperhead mouse on the way it glides over the mouse pad and while it's not as mushy feeling as the CopperHead it works well. We noticed no lag in game play . We tested with Half Life 2 ,Quake 4&3,UT 2004 ,Doom 3, Painkiller But it was when tring to use the tripple threat feature in these games we found out the OCZ mouses flaw the delay between the shots firing was longer then if we tried doing the mouse clicks oursleves. Pros: killer dpi settings get size for the laptop user or your little one(s) comfortable Cons: the triple threat button feature is not much of a threat. it is way to slow to be of use in any fps game as it is now. Final statement: While the mouse is not without issue (the triple threat button really isn't a threat at all). We see this as a good first run product from a company expanding it's product range. We see it as a very good product with a feature flaw that might be fixed in a driver update if it is a driver issue. For a first foray into making a mouse it is damn good show. I let my little one use it when she wants to play Tree House TV games etc. While some may think of this as a ding against this unit it is not. For the price you pay for this unit and one made for kids you get a better product buying the OCZ unit. We look forward to more great things comming down the pipe. |
