Interview With H.WoodallA interview with a up and comming artist/modder
Can you tell us about yourself???Well, My name is Hillary Woodall. I'm nineteen years old. I enjoy anime, drawing, and writing. I'm not currently in school but I'm working on going to college. Have you had any training???It depends on what your definition of training is. I've been taking art classes since I was in middle school but I haven't had much training outside of normal classes. Nobody's taught me how to use Photoshop, I learned that on my own. So really all the skills I have are self taught with a tutorial here or there. Do you do custom work for others???I do few custom works for others because I feel my skills are substandard. But I do have a 'muse' (A friend of mine) that pushes the limits of my creativities with his ideas. What kind of style would you say your artwork is(if you had to)?I would classify my work as mostly anime or manga (comics) but I'm working on my own style and trying to break away from the simplistic anime style. What would you charge for a case skin???Honestly? I have no idea. It depends on how much work I have to put into it I guess. What software do you use for your artwork on the computer?Adobe Photoshop 7.0 is all I've used so far but I'm looking into open canvas and painter and other programs. For what I do Photoshop suits my needs. How did you come up with the case skin for the game cube?My fiancee sent me the template from the company that prints them, he asked me to make him a Tales of Symphonia skin for his game cube. He sent me a few pictures and I added other pictures from the ToS series and worked on blending them together and tinted them all blue. He was happy with the over all effect. What other mods have you done with your artwork???I haven't really done other mods. I'd like to get into doing mods they look fun. I've been having ideas all day. How long have you been drawing???I've been drawing since I was twelve, a year before I met Kier Kier, I still need more practice and more work but who doesn't? What would you tell someone that wants to get into drawing?I would say that daily practice is the most important thing. Even if everything you turn out is a crappy sketch that isn't worth a dime the practice adds up in the end. Just don't give up. Do you do custom artwork for company's?As much as I would love it I haven't gotten the chance to do professional design work. I still need to go to college for more practice. Do you do website logos etc?I've only done work for my own websites. I've been wanting to get into designing layouts for sites. I can handle the art half, but not the coding part. That's my biggest obstacle to layouts. Who has been your inspiration in your art work???I've got a million imspirations. ,P> Mostly I'm inspired by people around me.Or ideas for stories going through my head spark character sketches. Dreams play a big role in what I draw. Sometimes it's just joking around with friends that inspires me. If I find something funny I'll draw it. What other projects are you doing that you can tell us about?Well I'm currently scripting a manga project with a friend. She handles the art end (Her style suits the story better) and I write the script. I'm working on finishing a few of my pieces and improving my digital coloring skills. I'm going to be working on a few pieces of art for my friends at Sakura Con (http://www.sakuracon.org) I'm hoping to get a few digital pieces finished and polished enough to sell a print or two at the con next year. How could a company or individual contact you to hire you?I prefer email contacts but here's two ways. E-mail: h_woodall@yahoo.com or Hillary Woodall 34848 Seavey Loop Rd. Eugene OR, 97405 What would you like to see happen with your artwork?Well I would like to see my art improve and maybe end up drawing a manga or really anything other people can enjoy. The thing I hope most for my art is that people can enjoy it and that it has meaning to them. Here are Links to some of her work:
Check her out if you need some artwork done for your mod etc. (yeah I wish my skillz were substandard like hers ) |
