BFG Tech Interview

Can you tell us your name and what you do at BFG???

My name is John Malley and I'm the director of marketing and public relations for BFG Technologies.

My team and I do everything from creating product packaging, designing and updating our website, sponsoring LAN events, sending out review samples, and finding and testing new products for BFG Tech to go to market with.

What is your companies status on Linux drivers etc???

We expect our cards to fully function with any driver NVIDIA releases, however we only test and provide Technical Support for the Windows versions.

What was your goal with the 6600GT OC agp card ???

We spent a considerable amount of time looking for and testing a copper-based cooling solution that would perform better than competitor cards that have the reference-design fan.

We also overclock all of our cards out-of-the-box for a safe performance boost, while still backing it up with the best lifetime warranty and 24/7 technical support in the business.

This card has already won numerous awards and has soundly beat our competitors in 6600 GT AGP round ups in terms of cooling, performance and support.

What other types of cards can we expect from you ;
will you make personnel cinema cards???

We generally bring the full line of NVIDIA-based cards to market, including top of the line cards, entry level cards, and everything in between.

Personal Cinema is not currently on our roadmap, but that's not to say it won't be in the future.

What are your companies return policy on your products etc???

We are proud to offer a true lifetime warranty on all of our graphics cards.

Rather than return a product to the store, we encourage customers to contact BFG Technical Support any time of day or night to get some troubleshooting help and determine if the card should be returned or not.

If a customer has a bad card or thinks he has one what should he do???

If a customer thinks their BFG Tech card may be faulty, we encourage them to contact our tech support staff via phone or email, 24/7/365.

BFG Technical Support will troubleshoot the issue with the customer to determine if the card is the cause or not.

If it is the cause, we will issue an RMA # (return authorization) to the customer.

They ship the card back to us and we'll replace it with a card of equal value.

Other companies only offer a 1 or 2 year warranty, whereas BFG will replace a faulty product at any time, for the life of the original owner.

So if you still have one of our cards 3, 6, or 10 years from now and it goes bad, we will give you a new one.

Why should a user choose your products over say
another manufacturers products???

We are the only graphics card company that offers a true lifetime warranty on all graphics cards.

We have tech support who are available via telephone or email, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

We overclock all of our cards out of the box, so customers who don't want to void their warranty by overclocking themselves can get a performance boost and still have a valid warranty.

We also build cards that use top quality components and better than reference cooling solutions.

Many of our competitors use "cost down" components, which are more likely to result in poor performing and/or faulty products.

Last but not least, we are gamers ourselves, so we like to think we understand our customers better than our competitors.

How do you test your cards that you overclock???

We test our cards using various game demos and synthetic benchmark programs to determine a safe level of overclock.

Since different chipsets can vary in their overclockability, we find an average overclock limit for a given chipset, then back it down to a safe, but still performance-enhancing level.

We then flash the bios to this new core clock speed.

What do you state as the max over clock of your product ranges
(6600gt oc agp and up)???

Again, since there is variability in each chipset family as well as individual chips, we never state a max overclock.

We tell consumers what clock speed we have our cards at vs. reference clock speeds on our retail boxes and on our website.

How could a customer maximize his performance by buying your
OC edition cards(optimal hardware)???

Most gamers know that overclocking a video card on their own is risky and will void their warranty, so many are reluctant to do so.

BFG does this for the customer so they still get a boost in performance when compared to non-overclocked cards, while still getting the industry's only true lifetime warranty.

Additionally, games can be limited by CPU, GPU or both.

To fully maximize the gaming experience, a combination of a BFG high-end graphics card and the fastest CPU/memory combination one can afford yields the richest gaming experience.

What games do you and the rest of your co-workers play???

We competed in the CPL Call of Duty last summer.

These days we are playing Counter Strike: Source, America's Army, and a variety of other games, mostly FPS.

We recently launched www.bfggaming.com to provide a free multiplayer gaming community with game servers and a forum.

Every month we give away prizes to registered members, so if you like to game and talk with other gamers, come check us out!

Do you use only windows or do you use both Linux and
windows to test and make your products(cards)????

We test with Windows drivers when we do our own in-house testing.

What would you like to tell someone in the market for a agp or
pci-express card to look for ???

Look for a company that will support your purchase!

How long do you expect to have this card?

Is warranty and tech support important to you?

Are you getting a better than reference cooling solution and top-quality components?

If these things are important to you, then please try BFG Tech brand graphics cards!

With this question I end our interview and I'd like to Thank you for your time

Thank you!
